8 weeks

As of today I am 8 weeks pregnant. I'm so excited. Morning sickness has started to hit me over the past week which is odd since I had no morning sickness at all with my son so maybe I'm having a girl. The chinese gender chart also predicts a girl and it was right with Richie so who knows. This time around we do not plan to find out the sex of the baby. my belly isn't really changing at all but one thing that is changing is my breasts, I forgot how fast they grow. I plan to add some belly pics soon (as soon as I take some that is).

I'm Pregnant!

I just found out June 30th that I'm pregnant. I'm so excited my edd is February 26th. I'm a little nervous about fitting into my wedding dress but I can always have it taken out a little, plus it's empire waisted. My first prenatal appointment is July 23rd and I simply cannot wait I'll be 9 weeks so hopefully we'll be able to hear the baby's heart beat.
Also I got my thirsties pocket all in ones in and they are just so cute. I also got some great fleece from JoAnn's during their sale and have started to make some newborn diapers for the new baby. I simply couldn't be happier.

Diaper Buying

So today I went to nickisdiapers.com and I ordered 2 size large thirsties diaper covers, one dozen bleached toddler size chinese prefold diapers and one toddler size snappi. I'm so excited I cannot wait to try them. I've read a lot online and the thirsties covers seem to be great and everyone seems to love chinese prefolds so hopefully I will too.

Hand sewn fleece cover

So I've decided to try and make some fleece diaper covers my only problem is that I don't own a sewing machine so I'll have to make them by hand. I got some cute anti-pil fleece from JoAnn's and I downloaded mama birds diaper patter ( http://www.geocities.com/rew4birth/ ) and I found a great walkthrough by sisters of breastfeeding ( http://www.sistersofbreastfeeding.com ). It took me about 2-3 hours (I was taking care of my son at the same time) to complete one and I haven't tried it on my son yet but I'm proud of the overall look. I'll add a picture of it later. It doesn't look half as nice as some of the homemade diapers you can find online but this was my first attempt and I sewed the whole thing by hand. I cannot wait to see how it holds up tomorrow.

Cloth Diapering

So I've decided to switch to cloth diapers since I've been spending $30 or more each month on diapers alone (that doesn't include wipes or clothes). Since I'm new to this I decided to get the gerber birdseye prefold with the gerber pull-up covers. So far it's been alright I have to double line the diapers since they're not very thick but that's really not a big deal. What I have done, though, is that on some of the diapers I added hook and loops so that they are easier for my fiance to close since he's a little apprehensive about using cloth (mostly the whole pins part of it). I've been practicing on my son's teddy bear and have gotten pretty good at using the pins, although I have been considering ordering a snappi. Also on our first day using cloth diapers my son got diarrea so in order to get the diaper off I had to pull the diaper cover off of him like pants which wasn't much fun so I've been considering ordering some diaper wraps as well. Turns out that my sister is also converting to cloth diapers which is really cool since neither of us even knew that the other one was doing the same thing. Once plus to cloth diapers so far is that I have not had to change his sheets since when we used disposables he would pee through them almost every night (something I found to be extremely annoying). Well here's hoping that cloth diapering works for me.
